Parts Charge? What Parts Charge?

The Customers are Revolting!

Hallo one and all. Back in 2002, Nissan Motor GB decided it would be a good idea to introduce a £25 + VAT charge for looking up a part number.

We didn't. ("We" being owners and club members of various Z / ZX marques).

After a little while and a bit of agitating, they woke their lawyers up to fire off letters to previously loyal customers. After a few threats and some unfulfilled promises, they saw sense and withdrew the charge. Well done, chaps.

One of their letters said "...I hope this has demonstrated that Nissan is fully aware of its customer obligations." What's your opinion? Read on and decide for yourself....

Update List

22 May 2005

Would you believe it can take up to 3 years to get to grips with Dreamweaver, do a redesign which dispenses with the javascript menu, upload the site to the proper domain from the original temporary one and add a few historical notes? Yep. Bloody lucky it wasn't urgent, then ...

10 June 2002 - Add Change of Policy Letter, Legal Letter

Big changes - to reflect the good news that Nissan Motor (GB) Limited have "reassessed the situation" and removed the charge. Hooray! Re-wrote the Story and much of the site.

9 June 2002 - Lose Frames

Site reworked yet again to get rid of frames (why can you find hundreds of sites telling you frames are c**p but not one telling you how to do left-hand-menus without them?)

25 May 2002 - Policy Change Reported

It appears that the policy of charging for looking up parts was reversed during the week commencing 20th May. About 48 hours after this site went live. (shurely shome coinshidenshe?)

As a gesture of goodwill / frightened of big stick being waved (delete as relevant), put site back on new URL with logo and other changes.

22 May 2002 - Run Away!

Site Suspended because [deleted under legal advice]

19 May 2002 - Golive.

The site hits the fan (Ed: check spelling)

May 2002 - Development.

Hitting html with increasingly larger sticks.

April 2002 - Correspondence with Nissan Motor GB.

Little or no response, no success, much irritation.
